New Oral & Cosmetic Surgery Patients
What To Expect At Your First Appointment
Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation in which Dr. Hammond will explain your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, surgery can be performed the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to surgery (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are currently taking any medication (i.e., heart medications, aspirin, Warfarin/Coumadin, etc.).
To make it more efficient for our office and more convenient and time saving for you, please fill out our online forms prior to your initial visit.
IMPORTANT: All patients under the age of 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at the consultation visit.

CT Scans & Advanced Technology
Here at Northwest Valley Oral Maxillofacial and Facial Cosmetic Surgery we are committed to excellence and providing innovative, high quality patient care. Because of this, our practice utilizes the state-of-the-art, full-cranial cone-beam CT (computed tomography) technology that provides highly accurate 3-D radiographic images.
i-CAT produces high-definition 3-D diagnostic images for the ultimate treatment efficiency. Its push-button ease delivers maximum control to accurately capture each patient’s unique anatomy and treatment progress.
From diagnosis, through planning and treatment, to successful case completion, i-CAT’s flexibility allows Dr. Hammond to select specifically desired scans and to manage radiation dose control for the greatest benefit to his patient’s.
i-CAT’s high resolution, volumetric images provide complete 3-D views for more thorough analysis of bone structure and tooth orientation. This allows Dr. Hammond to collect precise data and measurements such as the concavity of the bone and the bone width and height. In the case of multiple implants, Dr. Hammond is able to calculate a much more precise positioning of the implant.
This type of imaging allows us to obtain highly accurate information, in an office setting, that was never before thought to be possible. These 3-D radiographic images can obtain very pertinent information on the entire head and neck region. This allows for better diagnosis, better treatment planning, which in turn leads to better surgery. Undistorted, anatomically correct views of the jaws, teeth and facial bones are easily generated. Three-dimensional images enable a level of anatomical accuracy and patient care not possible with 2-D technologies.
Accurate and predictable treatment planning provides an increased level of confidence and extra margin of safety for our patients. We can achieve amazing results with 3-D treatment planning. This allows for the ideal placement of implants while taking into account both clinical and esthetical considerations. The CT guided surgery often allows for immediate loading of prefabricated prosthetics (teeth in a day).
